These bath salts make a perfect handmade gift for someone special.
Equipment:
* 1 cup Epsom salt
* 1 cup of baking soda
* 4 drops ylang ylang essential oil
* 4 drops rose essential oil
* 2 tablespoons liquid glycerin
* Handful dried rose petals (optional)
* 1 piece of hessium fabric (25 inches by 13 inches or 63 cm by 33 cm)
* A piece of thick string (20 inches or 50 cm long).
* 2 beads
* A wooden spoon (optional)
* A cellophane bag
Method:
1. Mix the first five ingredients well.
2. Make sure that there are no lumps in the mixture.
3. Add the dried rose petal leaves. The rose petals will float in the bath. Many people find this luxurious. Those who prefer not to have floating objects in their bath can leave them out.
4. Finish one of the edges of the longer side of the fabric (either overlock or zig zag).
5. Fold the finished edge over (3 inches or 7cm down) and stitch neatly.
6. Fold the fabric so that the two shorter sides are joined. Make sure that the edge that you sewed before is showing.
7. Sew the bottom and sides together.
8. Turn the bag inside out.
9. Place the salts into a cellophane bag. Seal with cello tape.
10. Place the cellophane bag into the bag that you just sewed.
11. Tie a bead onto either end of the string.
12. Tie the string around the bag.
13. Put a wooden spoon through the string (to be used to put the salts in the bath) – optional.
Tip/Variations:
* You can use various kinds of fabric.
* You can also add a transparent panel in the middle of the piece of fabric before sewing the bag.
