Ducks in a Lake
Birthday Cake
Ingredients:
- Ice cream - any flavor
- Vanilla ice cream (small quantity to be colored blue for the top)
- Blue food coloring
- Chocolate wafers
- Plastic ducks
- A
paper umbrella
Method:
- Take
the ice cream of your choice out of the freezer to soften.
- Once
relatively soft (yet not melted) push the ice cream into a round bowl,
pot, cake dish, etc.
- Put
in the freezer to harden.
- Take
a smaller quantity of the left over ice cream and add blue food
coloring. Mix until the color is evenly distributed.
- Spread
the blue ice cream on the top of the cake.
- Take
the ice cream out of the mold and put on a serving plate.
- Arrange
the chocolate wafers around the ice cream base.
- Place
the ducks on the cake.
- Lightly
cover with plastic wrap (cling-film).
- Store
in the freezer until served.
- Insert
an umbrella and candles before serving.
Tip/Variations:
Instead of using ice cream you can use a regular cake base. Bake in a round tin. Once baked and cooled cover it with blue colored icing.
