How to Make Numbers from Felt

Do you want to teach your kids how to recognize numbers? Recognizing numbers is not enough if they do not understand the meaning of each number. These felt numbers not only help them learn to recognize numbers but also to understand what each number represents.

Materials:

    * Colored Felt
    * Thread/Cotton
    * Scissors
    * Cotton wool
Method:

   1. Print the free downloadable numbers.
   2. Cut out the numbers from felt (two layers per number).
   3.  Sew each number together (i.e. the two layers of felt) leaving a small hole to stuff the letter.
   4.  Fill the letter with cotton wool.
   5.  Sew up the end that was left to fill the letter.
   6.  Cut up little pictures to stick on each number. For e.g. on number 1 you will add one picture, on number 2 – two pictures, etc.

Tip/Variations:
You can use ready made felt pictures to sew onto the numbers.
