Heat Embossing
In paper crafts, embossing refers to a technique for creating raised images on paper.
Equipment:
* A rubber stamp (or any other stamp)
* Embossing ink pad (this is a slow drying ink used for heat embossing)
* Embossing powder
* Heat gun, toaster or hair dryer (or other source of direct heat that can be applied to the paper)
* Cardstock or paper
Method:
1. Choose a rubber stamp in the desired pattern.
2. Push the rubber stamp into the embossing ink pad and then onto the paper or cardstock.
3. Dust embossing powder over the stamped image.
4. Blow the powder from the area which does not have glue (i.e. around the stamped image). Pour the excess back into the bottle.
5. Apply heat to the embossing powder. If you do not have a heat gun then use a toaster. Turn it onto the highest setting and place the paper directly over it. If you do not have a heat gun or toaster then you can use a hair dryer but in this case you must apply the heat from under the paper so as not to blow the powder away.
6. Wait until the embossing powder melts.
7. Remove the paper or cardstock from the heat source. The embossing powder will then harden into a raised surface in the shape of the stamp.
