How to Paint Lines on Walls

Painting Stripes on a Wall

Materials:

    * Paint in base color
    * Paint for lines or design
    * Low-tack masking tape
    * Spirit level
    * Pencil

Method:

   1. Paint the wall with a base color.
   2. Choose the color of your choice for the top coat.
   3. Using a pencil and spirit level mark the area that you would like to paint. You do not need to draw a line instead make little marks every 10 inches or 25 cm.
   4. Using the masking tape mask off the outer edge of the area that you want to paint.
   5. Paint the area which has been masked up to and including  the  edge  of the masking tape.
   6. When slightly dry pull off the masking tape and you will have created a straight line.

Tip:
Horizontal stripes make the room appear larger whereas vertical stripes make the ceiling appear higher.

If you put the masking tape on your clothes before placing on the wall (or other painted surface) then the chances of the masking tape peeling off the paint on the wall when removed is decreased.
